José González / NY Times

On Tuesday night at the Highline Ballroom you could almost get inside José González’s guitar, and it was loud in there. For a musician whose appeal seems to be an even, responsible, enlightened serenity — don’t-wake-the-baby music — he was nice and forceful, just alone with his instrument, his voice dry and his guitar laden with echo. Scotty Hard Benefit

A Benefit concert for notable music producer and engineer, Scott Hardy, will be held on March 19th at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. While a passenger in a car service after a late night mix session, the car Scott was in was hit and crushed his T5 vertebrae leaving him partially paralyzed. Like many other Americans, Scott is without health insurance and is facing a great amount of medical and legal fees. Having contributed great talent to hip-hop and jazz genres and with production credits with artists such as Wu-Tang and Tricky, come out next Wednesday and spread some love to him and all his friends and enjoy great performances with this lineup: John Scofield, John Medeski, Billy Martin, Eric Krasno, Neal Evans, Marco Benevento, Joe Russo, Antibalas, Sex Mob, DJ Logic, John Ellis, Michael Blake, Vijay Iyer, Tommy Hamilton and Kevin Kendrick.

100% of the concert proceeds will go to the Scott Hardy Trust and will let this music producer enter rehab for his back injuries. Personal Donations can be made as well and are payable to "The Scotty Hard Trust" c/o Heesok Chang 970 Kent Ave #401 Brooklyn NY 11205

UPDATE: VIP tickets are currently sold out. We may be releasing some more closer to the date. GA tickets still available here.

Chuck Klosterman interview

Why did you decide to do a reading at the Highline? How's it going to go down? I do a lot of speaking events at colleges and I wanted to try one at a rock club. I have a novel coming out in September and the thinking is I would read from the novel in advance of its publication, then there'd be a Q&A part where I'd talk about some of the ideas in the book.
