...QUEENSRŸCHE played all of "Rage For Order" for the first time this past Halloween (October 31) at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. The band also played other QUEENSRŸCHE hits and favorites that night.

"'Rage For Order' was only our second full studio album and it's hard to believe it's been 25 years," lead singer Geoff Tatestated before the concert. "We plan to let the good times roll on Monday night and hope you come join us in the Big Apple for what we promise to be a memorable show."

Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

"Rage For Order" introduced a much more polished look and sound for QUEENSRŸCHE. The album featured keyboards as prominently as guitars, and the group adopted an image more closely associated with glam rock or glam metal than with heavy metal (of which glam metal was a subgenre). A video was filmed for the song "Gonna Get Close to You", originally recorded in 1984 by DALBELLO. A song titled "Rage For Order" was written and demoed for the album, but it was not included on the final release. The main riff from this song was worked into an instrumental piece played during some shows on the tour in support of this album and eventually morphed into the track "Anarchy-X" on the "Operation: Mindcrime" album.

"Rage For Order" was ranked #88 on Kerrang! magazine's "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums Of All Time" in January 1989...

QUEENSRYCHE TO PERFORM "RAGE FOR ORDER" IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR FIRST TIME EVER IN NEW YORK CITY ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT:
While some will be counting how many Mounds bars they've got in their pillow case, rock fans in the New York City "know" will be "Screaming in Digital" on Monday night, October 31st, when the band Queensryche performs their 1986 release, Rage for Order, from beginning to end at the HighLine Ballroom in New York City. A little bit "trick" and definitely a lot of "treat," the truly special Halloween show will mark the first time the band has ever performed the album on stage in its entirety. "Rage for Order was only our second full studio album and it's hard to believe it's been 25 years," says lead singer Geoff Tate. "We plan to let the good times roll on Monday night and hope you come join us in the Big Apple for what we promise to be a memorable show." In addition to the 11 songs that comprised Rage for Order (see below for track listing), the band will be performing a selection of other songs including their hits at the show. What better way to celebrate Halloween? Who needs candy anyway? Queensryche -- Geoff Tate, Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson and Parker Lundgren -- are currently in the midst of their 30th Anniversary Tour in support of their newest CD, Dedicated To Chaos, which came out in early summer via Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud. The tune was “Sign o’ the Times,” by Prince, rearranged for upright bass, pinging keyboards and hazy rhythm. Even though other high-profile clubs have opened in the city since 1981, the Blue Note, on West Third Street, remains the one jazz venue where any cab driver will can you without the assistance of a more specific address. It may also be the only club where the coat check is often stuffed with luggage: "Tourists fly in from Europe and come straight from the airport," said the owner and founder, Danny Bensusan.

Coincidentally, the club's 30th anniversary arrives at a time when George Wein, who has mounted major mainstream jazz festivals in New York for nearly 40 years, has no festival planned. So the time seemed right to try something new. (more at wsj.com)

Tupperware Brands Corporation celebrated the re-launch of its Chain of Confidence (COC) Facebook page (www.facebook.com/chainofconfidence) last night at New York's Highline Ballroom with the original American Idol winner, Multi-Platinum and Grammy Award–winning artist Kelly Clarkson.

The sold out private event drew nearly 500 guests, including celebrities Kelly Rutherford ("Gossip Girl"), Gabourey Sidibe ("Precious"), Alia Shawkat ("Arrested Development"), and musicians Ashanti and Deborah Cox among others.

In addition to the performance, Tupperware Brands sold specially designed Confide + Conquer merchandise to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). Fifteen kids from the Kips Bay and Glen Cove Boys & Girls Clubs were invited to the concert and were given the opportunity to meet Kelly Clarkson and Ashanti. Tupperware is donating $1 for the first 25,000 "likes" of the newly launched COC Facebook page to the BGCA. (more here)

As the nightlife impresario behind Dances of Vice, a roving costume party troupe, Lee might appear as a cancan dancer one night and a gothic Victorian lady the next. It's been a while since New York has had a chance to enjoy the music of Garland Jeffreys, a favorite son who was a regular presence here in the 1970s and '80s. The once-prolific songwriter hasn't released a record in more than a decade, and rarely performs in his home city, though he has played a number of European tours. Now, with a new album on the way, Mr. Jeffreys is set to perform Saturday at the Highline Ballroom with his band, the Coney Island Playboys. Appearances at benefit shows aside, it'll be his first New York show in three years.

Since its inception in 1969, the French progressive-rock ensemble Magma have made a curiously heavy music: a dark complex momentum in which the drums — played by leader-composer Christian Vander — are the forward instrument, often flanked by heavily fuzzed bass guitar and the hard watery ring of a Fender Rhodes piano, with an operatic chorale narrating, in a made-up language, extended fictions about the people and wars on the planet Kobaïa. So NYC disco non-revivalists Escort -- recall their Muppet-assisted clip for 2007's "All Through the Night" -- have returned with their own tense, swaggering version of "Cocaine Blues," putting their own spin on the long-mutating track by "making the groove harder, adding more hooks, fleshing out the production with horns and strings, and putting an aggressive vocal that gives the song immediacy," as member Eugene Cho explained to Nick Sylvester this week at thirteen.org, explaining both what's retro about their sound and what isn't.
