826NYC is untouchably cool: a tutoring center for kids that actually makes the prospect of a tutoring center seem like a dream. Tucked by the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. in Park Slope—it's a real, functioning superhero supply store, with capes and force-fields and such for sale—826 teaches kids how to write and tell stories and make books. It's run by writer Dave Eggers, and it always gets great lineups for its own benefits. Here, Jonathan Ames will host a likely lively affair featuring comics John Oliver, Eugene Mirman, Wyatt Cenac, and Ted Alexandro, and "special guests." Bring your good intentions.
